Jalalabad - Punjab Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal hasexpressed confidence of winning upcoming assembly elections with thumping majority.
Talking to reporters here, Badal said that his party Shiromani Akali Dal and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will have a clean sweep victory as their prime agenda is development but not vindictive politics.
"The Shiromani Akali Dal and BJP will have a clean sweep in upcoming elections. We are fighting the elections with development on agenda. Our agenda is positive and we are not trying to get involved into vindictive politics neither our motive is to make personal attacks. Development of Punjab is our prime agenda," he added.
Meanwhile to give another political bow to the Congress party, another candidate Bikram Singh Majithia joined the Akali Dal in his support.
Filing his nomination from Majithia constituency, he said that SAD and BJP are campaigning on the basis of their work and have full hope that he would win elections.
"The public understands and wants to bring in such a government in this state that brings peace, brotherhood and maintains law and order. Development is one of the major issues as political outfits like SAD and BJP are campaigning and seeking votes on the basis of their work," said Majithia.
Punjab is one of five states due to hold elections this year. As per the schedule planned by Election Commission, polls in Uttar Pradesh will be conducted in seven phases, while voting in Goa, Uttarakhand, Manipur and Punjab will take place between January 28 and March 3.
