Injured Munda, jailed Koda vote in presidential pollRanchi - Jharkhand Chief Minister Arjun Munda, recuperating from injuries in a May 9 chopper crash, and former chief minister Madhu Koda, in jail in connection with corruption cases, Thursday cast their votes along with other legislators in the presidential poll.

This was the first time Munda came out of his official residence for any programme since his chopper accident. He cast his vote along with BJP legislators in the state assembly where polling arrangements were made.

Koda, who is in jail since November 2009 in various cases, was brought to the state assembly in a police vehicle.

Koda, an MP, said that he and his wife Geeta, a legislator, voted for United Progressive Alliance presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee.

Other jailed legislators also cast their votes.

Lone Communist Party of India-Marxist-Leninist legislator Vinod Singh abstained from the voting.

Except the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), all other parties in the state - including the BJP's alliance partners in the state Jharkhand Mukti Morcha, the All Jharkhand Students Union and the Janata Dal-United - had announced their support for Mukherjee.

The Jharkhand Vikas Morcha-Prajatantrik (JVM-P), the Rashtriya Janata Dal and some Independents also voted for the UPA candidate.
