Jayalalitaa reshuffles cabinetChennai - Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa Wednesday reshuffled her cabinet while reallocating the portfolios of some of her ministers.

The AIADMK chief inducted P. Mohan as minister for rural industries and dropped C.Ve. Shanmugam, minister for commercial taxes and registration.

"The swearing-in of the new minister will be held at Raj Bhavan on Oct 6 at 11 a.m.," said a statement issued here by the secretary to Tamil Nadu Governor K. Rosaiah.

According to the statement, the governor also approved changes in the portfolios of ministers as per the chief minister's recommendations.

B. Valarmathi, minister for social welfare, will additionally hold the portfolio of minister of nutritious noon meal programme.

M.C. Sampath, minister for rural industries, will now be the minister for environment. B.V. Ramana, minister for environment and pollution control, will be designated as minister for commercial taxes and registration.

N.R. Sivapathy, minister for school education, sports and youth welfare would additionally hold the portfolio law, courts and prisons, personnel and administrative reform and prevention of corruption. He will also be minister for school education and sports and youth welfare.
