LondoGiggs launches legal action against Brit tabloid over phone hacking n -  Manchester United midfielder Ryan Giggs has launched legal action against 'The News of the World' over claims that his mobile phone was hacked by the British tabloid, his lawyer has said.

According to The BBC, the Metropolitan Police are investigating claims that the tabloid had hacked into the phone messages of celebrities and other public figures from 2005 to 2006.

Matthew Himsworth, a solicitor at Giggs's law firm Schillings, said: 'I can confirm that proceedings have been issued today.'

Giggs is reportedly suing them for breach of privacy, claiming that his mobile phone messages were intercepted by journalists working for the tabloid.

His action against the tabloid comes after he obtained a court order banning the reporting of an alleged extra-marital affair he had with model Imogen Thomas.

The injunction was breached in the House of Commons after details appeared on the Internet.

The 37-year-old's sister-in-law, Natasha, later claimed that they regularly slept together after first meeting at a Manchester club in 2003.
