Donald backs South Africa to snatch England’s World No.1 Test crown

Cape Town ,- South Africa’s fast bowling coach Allan Donald insists his team can snatch England’s World No.1 Test crown next year.

South Africa will play a three-match Test series against England in 2012.

"Having got to No.1 in the world England’s next challenge is to stay there," the Sun quoted Donald, as saying.

"They are there to be toppled and neither side will take a backwards step. So, it promises to be a fantastic series," he added.

England claimed the number-one ranking for the first time in 32 years after winning the Edgbaston Test against India by an innings and 242 runs, which also gave them an impregnable 3-0 lead in the four-Test series.

To top the championship table for the first time under the current ranking system, which was introduced in June 2003, England needed to win the series by a 2-0 margin or better.

England accomplished its mission in great style when it won the first Test at Lord’s by 196 runs, winning the Trent Bridge Test by 319 runs, before sealing the series at Edgbaston.
