Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Rio de Janeiro - Making his debut in the 2012 season, Adriano aided in Corinthians' 1-0 win over Sao Caetano in the eighth round of the Sao Paulo state championship.

Adriano received the green light to play after catching the attention of club president Roberto de Andrade during a team scrimmage Feb 9 when the striker scored three goals. Having lost roughly 4 kilos, physical trainer Fabio Mahseredjian communicated to head coach Tite that the player is finally ready to play, Xinhua reports.

One day after his 30th birthday, Adriano was warmly received by fans on his season debut. However, he did not live up to the fans expectations on the field and passively participated in the match. Adriano did not play the entire match and was substituted by Elton in the 74th minute.

Regardless of Adriano' s less-than-impressive start to the season, Tite believes that Adriano will quickly progress and return to the level of play everyone is anxiously waiting to see. Due to Adriano' s progress, the athlete was named to the club' s Libertadores Cup roster, giving him motivation and confidence.

Corinthians' next match will be Feb 22 at home against Botafogo-SP in the ninth round of the Sao Paulo state tournament. The team returns to the Libertadores Cup March 7 at home against Paraguay' s Nacional.
