Blur to play at London 2012 Olympics closing ceremony

London - Blur, the British band, will perform at London’s Hyde Park on the last day of the Olympic games that are coming up this year.

The BT London Live Closing Ceremony Celebration Concert will take place on Sunday, August 12, with support from The Specials and New Order.

Blur’s band members Damon Albarn, Graham Coxon, Alex James and Dave Rowntree promise it will be even better than their 2009 reunion gigs.

“I think the reunion shows we did in 2009 are the best we’ve ever done, so this is exciting,” the Sun quoted James as telling NME magazine.

“Hopefully it won’t take quite as long to learn all the songs again this time,” Albarn said.

“For me personally, it’s a very sober regime. I have to clean my act up completely.

“I can’t perform with the right intensity unless I do,” he added.

The band will pick up an Outstanding Achievement gong at Tuesday night’s awards at London’s O2 Arena.
