Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatars Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the grassroots level.
I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics, Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Ana Ivanovic believes success and titles wear out but character staysDubai -  Ana Ivanovic feels that while it is important to play well and win titles, what stays with players in the end is character and respect for the game.

Ivanovic is a former world No 1 who won her first grand slam at 21 in 2008, however she is currently ranked at No 18 in WTA Tour rankings.

“It’s one thing to achieve big things in your career and it’s another to be the kind of person that you are, because in the end that’s what you are left with,” Gulf News quoted her as saying.

“Fame and success and titles stay with you, but they wear out eventually. In the end all that you are left with is your character. I think through this sport we see different characters - I see players like Roger

[Federer] and Rafa [Rafael Nadal] and they show so much respect for each other, the game and everything in it.

“They are so much above what they have achieved and that’s a great value to have,” she said.
