London -  Ace striker Luis Suarez could leave Liverpool, bidding goodbye to English football this summer.

Suarez's close friend Gus Poyet rushed to the Uruguayan striker's defence following the recent race row with Manchester United's Patrice Evra.

But when asked if there is a danger Uruguayan striker Suárez will leave English football in the aftermath of a series of controversies, Poyet said: "Yes. Yes. I am sorry for Liverpool."

The Liverpool player, who faces Everton in Tuesday night's Merseyside derby at Anfield, has become a target since being found guilty of using "racially offensive" language towards Evra,  giving rise to an eight-game ban and 40,000 pound fine.

"He was worried about everything that happened, it was a shock. Oh, he was [suffering], it was a difficult time. No doubt there's a cultural difference. But he will adapt. I just hope that we can  keep him in England. I would like him to stay in England for English football. Otherwise you lose so much," said Poyet.

The Telegraph reports that Paris St-Germain is preparing a summer bid and Suárez himself appeared on French television appearing to welcome such interest.

Meanwhile, Liverpool has rejected the reports.
