Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Button admits he needs to regain consistency to win drivers’ title

London - Jenson Button has admitted he needs to rediscover his consistency if he wants to have a shot at winning the drivers’ title this year.

“Every race you want to have a good result and you know that a no-score is massive and it really hurts. You’ve got to be consistently near the front. I don’t think it means you hold back going out for a win,” The Sun quoted Jenson, as saying.

“You’re not going to hold back if there is a manoeuvre or a move to go for, but consistency is going to be very important this year. In your heart we’re all here to do one thing and that’s to be the first to cross the finishing line, but if that’s not possible you’re there to pick up points,” he added.

His comments came after a mixed bag of results this season, and is currently at fourth place in the table.

He said he would be going all out to make up for lost points when the Formula One season resumes on May 13th in Barcelona.

Meanwhile, F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone has admitted the French Grand Prix will return to the sport’s calendar.

The race, which will be staged at the Paul Ricard circuit, will alternate years with the Belgian Grand Prix.

“The deal is done. We agreed the financial terms with the sports minister David Douillet. We are still discussing a few things about money: 'You give me this, I want that'. But, for me, there is no doubt, we will sign it now, ” Ecclestone added.
