Malacca (Malaysia) - India lost 0-2 to Malaysia in the semi-final of the 7th Junior Men’s Asia Cup Hockey Tournament played at the MBM Hockey Stadium here Thursday.

India played attacking hockey and made some good moves in the first half of the match but were denied any goal by hosts Malaysia.

The Malaysian forward line tried to attack and build some pressure in the first half but the Indian defenders successfully thwarted all the moves of opponents.

Malaysia took a 1-0 lead in the 40th minute with Faisal Saari converting a penalty corner.

Seeking an equalizer, Indian skipper Akashdeep Singh gained control in the midfield and set up forwards with penetrative passes, but the Indians failed to capitalize upon them.

In the 65th minute, Malaysian forward Mohammed Syamim Mohd Yusof scored the second goal for Malaysia to send his team into Sunday’s final.

The Indians attacked the opponent side till the last minute, tightening the midfield but unluckily lost this game.

India will now play the 3rd and 4th place play-off, Sunday.
