London's transport chiefs tell commuters to try 'rollerblading' to beat Olympic rush hour

London - Transport bosses in London have given a number of suggestions to daily commuters for avoiding the Olympic rush hour, which includes trying everything from rollerblading to rock climbing.

Olympic organizers want the daily commuters to develop various hobbies to stay ease of traffic predicament.

Extended queues at Tube stations during the Diamond Jubilee celebrations have raised concerns about London's ability to cope at even busier times during the Olympics.

Throughout the two weeks of the London Games, more than a million journeys are expected to be made every day on the capital's transport system.

Transport for London (TFL) announced yesterday that it had recruited Radio 1 Breakfast Show producer Aled Haydn Jones to 'showcase' post-work options in a series of blogs, but it will breed concern that the road and rail networks could become grid locked when spectators, media, VIPs, athletes and commuters all try to get around.

"Aled Haydn Jones will be blogging about his favourite places to go after work to encourage people to travel home outside of peak hours," The Daily Mail quoted TFL, as saying.

"Whether it's a drink after work, enjoying the best of London theatre, grabbing a bite to eat, visiting a museum or doing something more active like rollerblading, swimming or rock climbing,' it added.

Earlier this year, TFL commissioner Peter Hendy suggested that commuters go to the pub after work to avoid traffic disruption.

Hendy said: "We are not saying don't travel home at 5pm. But for those who can, go down the pub and travel at 6.30 p.m."
