French steeplechase runner to miss Olympics

Paris -  France's Bob Tahri, the European 3000m steeplechase record holder, has withdrawn from the Olympics after failing to recover from an operation on his left tibia.

Tahri went through an operation last September and he said that the recovery time had been too tight for qualifying the Olympics, reports Xinhua.

"I resumed training in April but it's not enough time before the July 6 Diamond League meeting in Paris when a qualifying time would have to be achieved," the 33-year-old said.
