Sarang, Mutatkar enter Maharashtra badminton quarters

Mumbai - Nagpur’s 20-year-old Sarang Lakhanee defeated Mumbai Suburban’s Shlok Ramchandran 21-17, 21-18 in 30 minutes to enter the men’s singles quarterfinals of the Maharashtra Senior State Selection Badminton Tournament.

The tournament is being hosted by Khar Gymkhana along with the Maharashtra Badminton Association and co-sponsored by Yonex Sunrise.

In the quarter finals, Sarang will face a tough challenge from third seed Pune’s Mayank Gole, who beat Mumbai’s Mandeep Singh 21-17, 21-11. Also top seed Sagar Chopda, Arijeet Bose, Thane’s Subhankar Dey reached the last eight.

In women's singles, top seed Pune’s Aditi Mutatkar, Sampada Sahasrabudhe, Anuradha Shrikhande and Mumbai Suburban’s Ridhi Panjwani, Riya Pillai reached the quarters as well.
