British long distance runner Farah wants to win double gold medals for expected twins

London - British long distance runner Mo Farah has said he would like to win both the 10,000m and 5,000m events at the London Olympics, and would dedicate those two medals to the twin daughters he is expecting.

After becoming the first Somali-born British man to win the European 5,000m and 10,000m titles in 2010, he turned to American coach Alberto Salazar, uprooting wife Tania and daughter Rhianna to Oregon in a bid to take on the African runners and achieve global success.

The couple is expecting twin girls in September, by which time Farah could have two Olympic medals with his plan to compete in the 5,000m if all goes well for him and Team GB on Saturday.

"On the day of the race, I might not even talk to Tania, it depends. I just hope she doesn't give birth while she is watching me, but at least, they would be born at the stadium and there will be a team doctor around!" The Sun quoted Farah, as saying.

"But I'm going for two medals so it would be great to be able to give them one each. That would be amazing. I've always said the 10,000m is first and I'll run that, get in my ice bath, recover, see the medical team, rest and if all is well get ready for the 5,000m," he added.

"I will get the 10,000m start list and find out who is in the race with me three hours before when I get to the stadium," he said.
