'Psychic raccoon' does a 'Paul the Octopus' by foretelling Chinese win at Games

London -  A raccoon, which stays in a Russian zoo, has predicted China to top the London Olympics' medal tally, as she looks to emulate the enigma created by Paul-the Octopus during the  2010 Football World Cup in South Africa.

The Russian zoo animal, called Jemma, became well known for her predictions during the European summer football tournament, and has now turned her skills to forecasting Olympic  results.

Jemma was placed on a plastic chair, and four buns with flags representing different countries were laid on a table, and then she selected the bun representing China and ate it.

"Our Jemma has decided that this time the winner of the overall medal count will be China. Jemma has picked Russia for the second place. We'll see if it turns out to be true," Sky News

quoted a zoo worker, as saying.

"But actually, judging by the Euro 2012, we can say that the accuracy of her predictions is almost 100%," the worker added.

Circus artists brought the raccoon to the zoo in 2000. She reportedly started giving out predictions in 2006.

The mammal correctly picked Spain to win the European football championship back in June.

And in the run-up to the Olympic Games, zoo workers even opened a Twitter account on her behalf to relay her predictions around the world.
