Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

PCB seeks former England coach Moores, Pak players help to lift domestic cricket

Lahore -  The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sought the views of former England coach Peter Moores and former Pakistan leading players to help improve the much-criticised domestic cricket setup.

In this regard, Moores held meetings with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Zaka Ashraf along with former greats including Javed Miandad, Intikhab Alam, Wasim Akram, Waqar Younis, Aamir Sohail and Inzamam-ul Haq.

The 49-year-old, who coached Lancashire to the county title in England last year, will now help prepare a plan for the PCB to implement, reports the Daily Times.

"It's interesting to put together the views of Miandad, Wasim, Alam, Waqar and others. I know Pakistan have produced so many talented players and if I am able to move things forward it would be great," Moores said.

Former greats including Imran Khan have criticised Pakistan's domestic structure for not producing world-class players and the inconsistent format of the competitions. Ashraf said his board was ready to do anything to lift the game at home.

"We have invited these experts to improve our domestic cricket. From first-class matches to club level and to academies, we want the best system so that our national team can be among the top teams in the world," Ashraf said.

International cricket was suspended in Pakistan over security fears after terrorist attacks on the Sri Lankan team bus in Lahore three years ago.
