Terry 'not to blame' for car accident: Injured Chelsea security guard

London, Mar 18(ANI): Chelsea security guard Steve Rowley, who has sustained leg injuries in a car accident involving Chelsea skipper John Terry, insists that the controversial star is not to blame for the incident.

Terry's Range Rover had hit Rowley as he left Stamford Bridge after Chelsea's Champions League defeat to Inter Milan on Tuesday.

Eyewitnesses to the incident said that Rowley was caught under a wheel as he cleared a large group of photographers and fans from Terry's slow-moving car.

However, Rowley has issued a statement through the club in which he has absolved Terry of any responsibility for the incident.

"Contrary to media reports I've been reading this evening, I did not suffer a broken leg in last night's incident at Stamford Bridge," The Telegraph quoted Rowley, as saying in the statement.

"It is badly bruised. John was quickly in contact with me once he realised what had happened and there's no bad feeling at all on my part. It wasn't his fault at all, it was a complete accident. I won't be commenting further on the matter," he added.

Meanwhile, Terry's spokesman Phil Hall has claimed that Terry was unaware about what had occurred, and said he is really upset and was very apologetic

"The club made contact with John and put the police in touch. They breathalysed him, but he hadn't had a single drop to drink so the breathalyser showed nothing. John answered questions they asked and that was the end of the matter. Since then he's found out the name of person and called him," Hall said.

"He's been to the doctors and has a sprained ankle and I think John's going to see him tomorrow. He (Terry) was really upset this had happened because the security guys were obviously trying to help him," he added.  (ANI)
