Ryder Cup doubts for Tiger Woods

New York, Mar 18(ANI): Disgraced American golfer Tiger Woods, who confirmed his intentions for a comeback next month, may have to face some embarrassing moments if he decides to compete in the Welsh Ryder Cup later this year.

The Ryder Cup is regarded as a WAG-heavy environment, and though the World No. 1 may find it easy with his team-mates, the reaction of their accompanying wives and girlfriends could be corrosive.

It is believed that those partners who know the disgraced golfer's wife Elin are unlikely to greet him with a warm embrace if he makes an appearance.

"I'm sure the American captain will be giving it a lot of thought," The Daily Express quoted Colin Montgomerie, Europe's Ryder Cup captain, as saying.

However, Woods, who has been out of action since mid-November and in hiding most of that time after a string of affairs, would be hoping that the storm will have blown itself out by the time the tournament is played.

The world No 1 will be making his comeback at next month's Augusta Masters, and is also likely to take part in events including The Open at St Andrews in July.

Meanwhile, Woods's former college room-mate and PGA Tour rival Notah Begay, believes that he has witnessed a different man emerge from the whole controversy.

"He's definitely a lot more humble and grounded. This whole thing has taken him from his stratosphere to where he has had to evaluate himself and his priorities. The degree of humility is much more apparent," Begay said. (ANI)
