Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Cricket Australia rejects criticism of rotation system

Melbourne - Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland has strongly backed the controversial rotation system.

Speaking to News Limited, Sutherland said that there was a need to understand why rotation was necessary and beneficial.

“It’s there to provide sustained success for the Australian cricket team,” he claimed.

Sutherland said that Cricket Australia is always looking at the bigger picture.

According to the Age, he said that it is extremely important to keep the bowlers fit and give them their breaks in a timely manner.
“The broader issue is all about Australian teams winning cricket matches and series, winning the big events, the things that really count,” Sutherland said.
