Islamabad - The managing director of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), Salman Sarwar Butt, had stepped down from his post and would be replaced by the director general of Pakistan Cricket Board Javed Miandad in the interim.

According to Butt, he would not be available for any future matches of the PSL as the league would probably start in April and thus he had consulted with the board to appoint a successor to handle his work, the Daily Times reports.

Butt said that he had informed the PCB about his future plans and commitments, and added that he would be glad to assist PCB and PSL in their future endeavours.

Wishing luck for Butt’s future, PCB chairman Mohammad Zaka Ashraf said that Butt had provided invaluable services to the PSL, dedicating and committing himself fully to the league.

Salman, a banker by profession, was instrumental in setting up Pakistan’s domestic T20 competition, whose first edition in 2005 was sponsored by his then employer, ABN-AMRO Bank.
