Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

New Delhi - Tutul Ali and Rohan Rana shared the opening day’s honours at the Usha-IGU Delhi junior Golf Championships with identical cards of even par 70 each Tuesday.

The duo was two shots clear of the field with the next golfer Mohan Sardar in third place with a 73 in Category A.

Rana had one birdie and two bogeys on the front nine but then back-to-back birdies on 11th and 12th put him under par. A late bogey on 18th brought him back to even par. Tutul, playing aggressively, had six birdies, two on front nine and four on the backstretch. But he also dropped three bogeys on both stretches.

Shubham Narain, Jairaj Singh Sandhu and Tapendra Ghai shared fourth with rounds of 74 each. Kartikey Vashisht shot 77 while Manu Gandas carded 75.

In Category B, Jaiveer Singh held the lead with a round of 74 with Arjun Prasad in second place with 75 along with Hassan Rahman.

There are 74 players in the field.
