London(ANI): Fulham has accused the Premier League chairman Sir Dave Richards of being involved in footballer Peter Crouch's 9 million pounds move from Portsmouth to Spurs in July 2009, and is planning to take legal action against him.
According to The Sun, the fall-out has become so serious League chief executive Richard Scudamore e-mailed all 20 clubs this week to explain things.
"Fulham believed Crouch was theirs. They were staggered when he joined Spurs for 2 million pounds less than they offered," a source quoted Richard’s e-mail.
However, Fulham are convinced they had already sewn up an 11 million pounds deal and alleged that cash-strapped Portsmouth missed out on that extra money because of Richards' intervention.
“We understand Pompey were so desperate for money they plumped for Spurs' 9million pounds up front rather than 11 million pounds in installments from Fulham or Sunderland,” Fulham said.
Earlier, the Premier League had carried out their own internal investigation into Fulham's allegations and concluded that Richards has done nothing wrong. However, Fulham have started legal proceedings.
The Cottagers (Fulham) believe that Richards helped Spurs do the 9 million pounds deal last July and tied up an 11 million pounds deal with Pompey for the striker.
