Chelsea v Manchester United: Fergie's Men To Extend Chelsea's Blue Pre-Season

IndiaVision News - Although many see this match as a "glorified pre-season friendly", neither side will want to surrender any pride as they finalise preparations for the new season.

Last season was massive for Carlo Ancelotti and his Chelsea side as they sealed their first ever domestic cup double.

Chelsea (13/8) are also favourites to lift the Community Shield in this match, although their squad is arguably weaker than last season as Ancelotti's transfer market dealings have hardly been inspiring.

Yossi Benayoun has traded places with Joe Cole from Liverpool in a deal which surprised many people. Other than that, there have been no big named players replacing the experience lost through Ballack, Belletti and Joe Cole who have all departed on free transfers.

Chelsea will also be without Petr Cech, Alex and Jose Bosingwa and look a bit thin on the ground for this match. Didier Drogba will also be on the bench as Ancelotti confirmed his starting eleven will contain only one change from the side that lost their final pre-season friendly at Hamburg.

Chelsea were in pretty poor form pre-season and have lost their last four matches, meaningless or not, that isn't great coming in to the new season.

That is why I really fancy Manchester United (9/5) to show just why you should never write Sir Alex Ferguson's men.

They aren't without their own injury problems thought and will be without Rio Ferdinand, Michael Carrick and Anderson.

Their strikers come in to the match on decent form in pre-season; Berbatov, Owen and new signing Hernandez have all been among the goals. As Rooney gets back to fitness from the World Cup, Fergie has promised to give him and Owen at least 45 minutes each.

As Wayne Rooney will want to silence some of the critics that he rightly received after his dismal World Cup performance he is always a great bet to score first at 5/1.

Michael Owen makes his return to the Wembley pitch where he injured himself last season in the League Cup final, he will be hoping the pitch is better quality and he can get a goal (13/2 to score first).

Last season, these two played in this very fixture and there were goals galore. The match ended 2-2 in 90 minutes (16/1) and Chelsea went on to win 4-1 on penalties.

If you think a shoot-out will be needed to solve this year's affair then 9/2 is available on your choice of team to win on penalties. Neither side has really improved their squad from last season when Chelsea were undoubtedly the better side, I just feel in this match, Man Utd will be out to silence their doubters coming in to the new season.

Their squad will be a lot stronger in this match as Chelsea struggle with injuries. I think United to win both in 90 minutes (9/5) and to lift the shield (Evens) are great prices.

If you are wary of the draw then I would take the 19/20 on the Reds on the draw no bet market.
