'Beleaguered' Yousuf says lack of 'unity' behind Brisbane defeat

Brisbane, Jan.23 (ANI): Upset over the five wicket loss in the first match of the one-day series against Australia, Pakistan captain Mohammad Yousuf has blamed the lack of unity in the team for the loss.

Yousuf said he expected an improved show from his teammates after the 3-0 Test series whitewash.

"We should have done better and win this match. The team needs unity. They will have to play for the country," The News quoted Yousuf, as saying.

Yousuf's remarks clearly indicates there are fissures in the team.

It may be noted that former captain Younis Khan had stepped down citing similar reasons last year.

Khan, while opting out of the New Zealand Test series in November, had said  he had lost control over the squad and needed rest.

Pakistan's deplorable performance Down Under has endangered Yousuf's captaincy and he is likely to be axed after the series.

"Mohammad Yousuf is for this series only and we will decide about the new captain after the tour of Australia," Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ijaz Butt said. (ANI)
