Dhaka, Jan 25 (IANS) Indian batsman Rahul Dravid suffered a hairline fracture to his jaw when he was struck by a short-pitched delivery from Bangladesh fast bowler Shahadat Hossain in the second cricket Test here Monday.
Dravid could not duck or take himself away from the line of the delivery and got the ball straight on his jaw. He retired hurt after scoring his 29th Test century.
Dravid was taken to a hospital and x-rays revealed a hairline fracture, according to Bangladesh Cricket Board president Mustafa Kamal.
Kamal said doctors told him that Dravid is feeling fine and can be discharged from the hospital Tuesday.
Indian team manager Arshad Ayub, however, said Dravid will be in the hospital under observation and a decision on his returning home will be taken after medical opinion.
