Kingstown (St. Vincent, West Indies) - Australian captain Shane Watson roared with delight when he crashed through West Indian all-rounder Andre Russell's defences to bowl him while the hosts were chasing the visitors total of 220, but his joy was short lived, as a replay showed that Watson had delivered a no-ball.
Compounding Watson's frustrations, he then proceeded to bowl Russell off the next delivery, a free-hit because of his transgression the ball before, meaning again the West Indian couldn't be given out.
Watson could only chuckle about the moment post-match before admitting it was a preventable situation, The Age reports.
"It was very disappointing especially at that crucial time as well," Watson was quoted, as saying.
"To bowl a guy out twice in two balls and actually have zero result out of it and giving him a run, very disappointing. When I checked the footmarks, I knew I stepped over. That was not a good feeling ... it's not good enough," Watson said.
Russell's double reprieve was the craziest moment of a crazy match at the Arnos Vale Ground.
The all rounder was eventually dismissed to leave the Windies still in trouble at 7-181 before recovering to need just one run with three balls remaining.
Captain Darren Sammy and last man Kemar Roach then had a horrible mix-up for Australia to complete a run-out and end the match in a tie - this time with no way back for the West Indian batsmen.
