Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Leggy Bishoo can be Windies' 'secret weapon' against Oz on sub-continent-like pitches

Barbados (West Indies) - West Indies leg spinner Devendra Bishoo, who hasn't played against Australia in the series so far, is expected to be their secret weapon to derail any  strategy formulated by the tourists in the first Test in Barbados, starting on Saturday.

Bishoo, the International Cricket Council's emerging player of the year, will be keen to exploit Australia's susceptibility to spin on subcontinent-like wickets, as it goes all-out for its first  series victory against the Aussies in almost 20 years.

The Windies would be keen to prey on Australia's perceived Achilles' heel against spin when the first Test starts at Kensington Oval.

Australia is yet to come up against Bishoo, who was not picked in the one-day or Twenty20 series, and this factor can play an important role in the Windies' strategy.

Even Australia vice captain Shane Watson admits that wickets in the Caribbean would suit slow bowlers.

"Even looking at the Twenty20 wicket at Kensington Oval, I think the wicket might be a little bit similar to what we've seen here [at the Three Ws Oval] - a little bit of a skiddy, low-turning

wicket," The Sydney Morning Herald quoted Watson, as saying.

"It's a good way to get ourselves used to these conditions - it's pretty much what we're going to get," he added.
