Shoaib Akhtar to play street cricket across Pak in search of raw talent

Lahore - Former Pakistan fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar is set to travel across the country, playing cricket in the streets, in a bid to spot talented young players and groom them for success.

"I want to return to my country what it gave me. I want to serve the game in Pakistan because we have a lot of talent in the streets," The Nation quoted Akhtar, as saying.

Akhtar, who retired from international cricket last year, had a career troubled by injuries, a dope scandal and disciplinary problems.

Akhtar also dismissed media reports, which stated that he intends to return to international cricket.

"I am not returning and just focusing on this programme," said Akhtar, who retired after last year's World Cup jointly hosted by India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh.
