PCB chairman urges BCCI to review its stance on DRS

Karachi -  Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Zaka Ashraf has urged the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to review its stance on the implementation of the controversial  Decision Review System (DRS).

Ashraf said that the DRS was a constructive step forward and good for the sport and as such India should also review its policy on the implementation of the DRS system.

"I feel accepting the DRS system will be in the larger interest of the sport," he said.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) at its recent meetings in Kuala Lumpur backed off from making the DRS mandatory for all Test matches after India opposed the system insisting it was  not 100 percent error free.

Ashraf said majority of the decisions taken under the DRS had been good for the umpires, players and cricket.

"It is a system which is also beneficial for the umpires in the long run," The Daily Times quoted Ashraf, as saying.

Pakistan has been a staunch supporter of the DRS and is presently trying to acquire sponsorship for using it in the one-day internationals scheduled against Australia in the UAE next month.

The Indian board also questions the fact that technology used in the DRS is not uniform in all countries because of its high costs on the boards.

Commenting on the PCB's plans to hold its premier league tournament, Ashraf said it was trying to launch the event in November.
