Lahore High Court adjourns hearing on Akhtar's plea challenging PCB's ban

Lahore High Court adjourns hearing on Akhtar's plea challenging PCB's ban Lahore, Mar.20 (ANI): The Lahore High Court (LHC) has adjourned the hearing on controversial fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar's petition challenging the one-and-half-year ban and a fine of seven million rupees imposed on him by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

Adjourning the case on Akhtar's plea, LHC Justice Azmat Saeed remarked that a player who is indisciplined does not deserve to be a part of the national squad, The Dawn reports.

During the hearing, Akhtar's counsel Abid Hussain Minto argued that PCB's appellate tribunal, which had slapped the ban and fine of the bowler, was not authorised to award the penalty or impose a ban, as it was not in accordance with the relevant law.

Last year, as an interim relief, the court had allowed Shoaib to participate in national or international cricket events by suspending the ban, but the decision was again challenged by the PCB. (ANI)
