Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Melbourne - Cricket Australia (CA) Monday named Queensland batsman Joe Burns as a cover for Adam Voges for the upcoming Twenty20 International against the West Indies Wednesday.

Voges has a tight hamstring following his century in the fifth and final One-Day International (ODI) at the Melbourne Cricket Ground Sunday.

“Joe Burns, the 23-year-old Queensland batsman, has been placed on standby for Adam Voges for the T20I at the Gabba Wednesday. Joe has shown impressive form throughout this season, was deservedly awarded the Bradman Young Cricketer of the Year award at the Allan Border Medal, and his good form has also resulted in selection for Australia A against the England Lions in their five-match series starting this Saturday," national selector John Inverarity said in a statement released Monday.
