Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatars Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the grassroots level.
I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics, Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Giles reveals ‘ruthless’ streak after becoming England’s ODI coach

London - England’s one-day squad coach Ashley Giles has said that although he was sensitive during his playing days, he has become ruthless after becoming a coach.

The former English cricketer, who had dropped wicketkeeper Craig Kieswetter from the Twenty20 and 50-over series in New Zealand, has said that he has to be more tougher as a coach by making strong decisions, the Sun reports.

According to Giles, it is necessary to reprimand a player over a wrongdoing but there is no need to make the team look bold or brave.
Stating that such decisions are a part of being a coach, Giles said that a coach loses respect from his players if he does not act against anything that has been not been done in the proper way.

While England now focus on the Test series with the Kiwis, Giles will be busy devising plans to land the Champions Trophy, the report added.
