Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Watson to set ‘new low’ if captains in Delhi Test, says Oz media

Sydney - Vice-captain Shane Watson will be the least credentialed Australian captain in recent history if he leads the touring Test squad for the fourth Test against India, according to the Australian media.

Insisting that the all-rounder is not capable enough to lead the team for the Delhi Test, News.com.au said that according to statistics, Watson will be the only captain since Barry Jarman in 1968 to average less than 40 in Tests, putting aside from Kim Hughes whose tenure coincided with one of the most worst runs in Australia's cricketing history.

The report further said that the vice-captain, who was one of the suspended four from the Mohali Test for a disciplinary breach, does not belong among the players who have reached arguably the highest on-field position in Australian cricket.

The report further said that according to statistics, Watson averages only 36.02, adding that it is much lower than five of Australia's 11 captains to have led the side in the era from Ian Chappell to Michael Clarke, who have averages in the 50s.

The report further said that if Watson wants to improve his game and elevate it to new heights, like Clarke had dome since assuming the leadership, he needed to do it quickly.
