London - Tottenham Spurs manager Harry Redknapp's recent jibe at Manchester City doesn't seems to have go down well with City.
Redknapp claimed that City were at the top of the Premier League because of the money they had spent on top players whereas he had built his team.
Manchester City assistant manager David Platt has slammed Redknapp for his comment.
'You don't get a trophy for spending money, you get a trophy for finishing top of the pile. When I look at this team I see a side that has the desire to win and is full of the ability and capability to win," The Sun quoted Platt, as saying.
He said that Redknapp should be happy with his team.
"Harry Redknapp has a right to be proud of what he has done. He should still be proud if he finishes second and a point behind us. But we'll be happy as well," he added.
Platt stressed that having resources to reach the summit of the league isn't wrong.
"Where this club was three-and-a half years ago it was never going to compete for championships. Top teams buy top players. If you have the resources to eat at the top table, and you can do it in a two-year spend rather than 10-year, it gets you there quicker," he added.
Spurs can level on points with City if they beat Wolverhampton Wanderers tonight and will face City in a highly anticipated match next week.
