London - Coach Sir Alex Ferguson has warned Manchester United that past glories will count for nothing in the race for this year’s Premier League title.
The champions have been in indifferent form of late, losing back-to-back league games against Blackburn and Newcastle before beating City in a thrilling FA Cup tie.
The pressure is on United to keep pace with Roberto Mancini’s Manchester City at the top but they face a tough run of games that includes clashes with Arsenal, Stoke, Chelsea and Liverpool.
The United boss reckons his side’s winning reputation won’t help them land a record 20th league crown.
Fergie has challenged United to stay hot on the heels of their neighbours.
The Daily Star quoted him, as saying: “I frequently stress the importance of our history and experience, but you cannot depend on past achievements to win trophies.
He added: “It’s important we get our fingers out and perform in every game.”
