Washington - Barack Obama will not be having a big Super Bowl get together this year, and will be watching the game with his family only, the White House said Thursday.
It’s a notable break from the past three years, when the White House threw parties for dozens of bold-faced names, including Jennifer Lopez, Marc Anthony, cabinet officials, members of Congress, a former governor or two and mayors.
An East Wing official couldn’t give a reason why the Obamas planned to go-it-alone this year, only saying that "the family will be watching the Super Bowl together in their home," the Politico reported.
The official also didn’t say whether friends of the First Family would join them for the game.
First Lady Michelle Obama hinted at the low-key plans during an interview last week on the ‘Rachael Ray Show’.
"We’ll probably watch it at home. It’ll probably be a quiet Super Bowl this year," she had said.
