London - Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish has expressed the hope that his club will go on to win more trophies after they beat championship side Cardiff City on penalties (3-2) at Wembley to win the Carling Cup on Sunday.
Dalglish, together with American owners John W Henry and Tom Werner, want the club to kick on after their first slice of success since the 2006 FA Cup and keep the trophies pouring through Anfield doors.
He believes Sunday's win would increase his players' appetite to win more trophies in the future, and, that it was an enjoyable experience for his team.
"I think this will inspire the players. I don't think anyone has ever won a trophy either at Wembley, the Millennium Stadium or in Europe and not come away without enjoying it," The Sun quoted Dalglish, as saying.
"It must give you a taste for more. That doesn't mean to say it's going to happen but it can have an impact. We are here because of all the hard work everyone has put in, not just me," he said.
Dalglish said Liverpool deserved its first trophy in six years, and this is not the end of it, but marks the start of a new era for the Reds.
"It's also down to the owners and the players and the closer we are the better we will be. Everyone has worked as hard as they can to take the club forward. We have won a trophy but that is not us finished," Dalglish added.
"We deserved our first trophy in six years but need to continue to work hard and see where it takes us. We didn't think six years ago it would take this long to win our next one," he said.
"We have won it, we will really enjoy it and it will give us a wee flavor to come back and do it again," he added.
