London - Manchester United star Wayne rooney is expecting Arsenal striker Robin van Persie to win the Professional Footballer’s Associations (PFA) Player of the Year award tonight.

“Obviously, it a great award to win and and it’s your work throughout the season that gets you into that position. But more than likely, Van Persie will win it,” the Daily Mirror quoted Rooney, as saying, who is one of the six nominees for the prestigious prize, which he had won in 2010.

Rooney, 26, who marked his best ever scoring tally in the Barclays Premier League, said it was ‘nice to be nominated’.
