London - English footballer Joey Barton has reportedly slammed â€˜X Factorâ€™ for ridiculing the â€˜mentally deficientâ€™ contestants.

â€œI find myself cringing at the beginning of the showâ€™s auditioning,â€ the Daily Star quoted the 29-year-old star as telling â€˜Big Issueâ€™ magazine.

â€œYou get people who are clearly mentally deficient being openly laughed at,â€ he added.
