London - Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has sent a stern warning to rival teams in the Premier League, saying writing them off so early could surprise them in the long run.
Arsenal goes to Liverpool tomorrow for a fixture rich in tradition but with little expected from either team just two weeks into the season.
"You never expect much from us I must say. We always have a good potential to surprise you. If I listen to the predictions last year on the same day, we were predicted to finish 10-15 and we finished third," The Sun quoted Wenger, as saying.
"With Liverpool, always, there are a lot of expectations but what happens now is you also have Chelsea, Man United and Man City," he added.
Arsenal has yet to score a goal while Liverpool has failed to keep a clean sheet from two games each.
Brendan Rodgers lost his first game as Kop boss 3-0 at West Bromwich Albion and was instantly installed as favourite to be first top-flight manager sacked.
"That tells you a lot about modern emotional society. There are instant reactions on every single media. You have it for Twitter, direct chat on radio, reaction on the internet," Wenger said.
"I think always it is better to think about it before you say something," he added.
