Wellington, Jan 30 (DPA) A 19-year-old New Zealand student is offering her virginity for sale to the highest bidder on an auction website to raise money for her university fees, a newspaper reported Saturday.

"Unigirl," as she calls herself, says she is attractive, has never had a sexual relationship and is still a virgin.

"I am offering my virginity by tender to the highest bidder as long as all personal safety aspects are observed," she says on the I Need website ineed.co.nz, which is based in the North Island city of Hamilton.

"This is my decision made with full awareness of the circumstances and possible consequences," she says.

After a reader wrote to the Waikato Times condemning the offer as "yuck, sick and wrong", website proprietor Ross McKenzie told the paper, "Our policy is that provided the ad is legal and doesn't offend the general standards of society it is okay, but I need to have a look at this and discuss it with my business partner."
