BJP supports Shah Rukh Khan

Mumbai, (IANS)Signalling a rift with its alliance partner in Maharashtra, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Wednesday came out in open support of Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan and termed as "unfortunate" the
Shiv Sena's plans to ban his forthcoming movie, "My Name Is Khan".

Speaking informally to mediapersons at the state BJP headquarters in the evening, Leader of Opposition in the state assembly Eknath Khadse said the Sena's anger against Shah Rukh Khan and its plans to ban the release of his
movie were "not proper".

"It is not proper. There are legal avenues which can be explored for this," Khadse remarked.

This is the second time this week that the BJP has sung a different tune vis-à-vis the Sena on its current campaign of 'Mumbai for Marathis' and its threats to Pakistani and Australian cricketers, and to Shah Rukh Khan.

A couple of days ago, BJP president Nitin Gadkari had observed that any person from anywhere in the country could come to Mumbai.
