Islamabad, Feb 5 (DPA) A bomb struck a bus carrying Shia Muslims in Pakistan's port city of Karachi Friday, killing at least 11 people, hospital officials said.
Up to 50 people were also wounded in the attack on the bus taking dozens of Shia Muslims to a religious gathering.
"Eleven bodies and nearly 50 injured people have been brought to us," said Seemi Jamali of the state-run Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre.
Karachi's police chief Waseem Ahmad said explosives appeared to have been rigged to a motorcycle.
Television footage showed the mangled remains of the motorcycle and the bus with all its windowpanes shattered. Nearby buildings were also damaged in the explosion.
