Baby Falak stable for now, but still critical: DoctorsNew Delhi -  Abandoned at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) here, two-year-old baby Falak is in stable condition after being taken off the ventilator but continues to be critical, doctors here said Saturday.

"She is critical, but her vital parameters have been stable without the ventilator. We are constantly monitoring her condition,” a senior doctor from the team of doctors monitoring her condition told IANS. Falak was taken off the ventilator early Friday.

A teenager left Falak at AIIMS Jan 18 with multiple injuries, including a fractured skull, human bite marks on her tiny frame and a clot on the right side of her brain. The baby has been battling severe chest, brain, and blood infections.

The teenager, who initially claimed to be Falak's mother, is now in a juvenile home. She got the baby from Rajkumar Gupta, the key accused in the case who is on the run.

While police continued its search for Gupta who had allegedly handed over the baby to his teenage girlfriend, four people have been arrested in the case.

The treating doctor said the toddler is comatose and it is “too early to say if she is out of danger”.

"She has suffered serious brain damage. It is too early to say if she is out of danger or not,” the doctor added.
