Romney fails in attempt to target Obama on women’s issuesWashington - US presidential contender and former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney has failed in an attempt to target President Barack Obama on women’ issues, as his allegations that 92.3 percent of all jobs lost during Barack Obama’s tenure have been lost by women, has been dubbed as ‘false’

“This is an amazing statistic. The percentage of jobs lost by women in the president’s three, three and a half years, 92.3 percent of all the jobs lost during the Obama years have been lost by women.

Ninety-two point three percent!,” Politico quoted Romney as reading a flier titled “Women & the Obama economy to three dozen Connecticut businesswomen.

On being asked Romney’s position on the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act, the first law Obama signed as president that eliminated the statute of limitations for women to sue to receive equal pay for performing the same jobs, the campaign said it is not proposing any changes to the act.

Romney’s campaign also emailed reporter identical statements of three prominent female supporters, including Representative Mary Bono Mack, Cathy McMorris Rodgers and Kerry Healey, who described Obama’s policies as bad for women.

But Democrats pointed out over Twitter that Bono Mack and McMorris Rodgers voted against the Ledbetter act.

The report pointed out that the exchange demonstrates the speed bumps Romney’s campaign faces on the issue in the run up to the presidential polls.

According to a recent poll, a major hurdle faced by Romney is his 20-point lag behind Obama with female voters.
