Pak identifies 3 out of 9 militants involved in brazen Kamra airbase attack

Islamabad - Pakistan Air Force (PAF) authorities told the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) that the three militants involved in the Kamra airbase attack had been identified as residents from  the Pak Punjab province.

The committee's session, which was held at the Parliament House in Pakistan, was presided over by Pakistani legislator Raza Rabbani, the Dawn reports.

Briefing the committee members, PAF authorities said that three out of the nine militants, who had attacked the Minhas airbase in Kamra, had been identified as hailing from Punjab, while one of the three was a resident of Sialkot.

In August, militants armed with rocket-propelled grenades and automatic weapons had carried out a brazen attack on the Minhas base of the Pakistan Air Force at Kamra, following which the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) had claimed responsibility for the assault, the paper said.

Pakistan has experienced numerous retaliatory attacks launched by militant organizations such as TTP and Lashkar-e-Toiba that are active in the northwestern part of the country, because of nation's role as a strategic ally in the war in Afghanistan, it added.
