Two school girls die after eating 'poisoned' lunch

Kolkata, March 19 (IANS) Two Class 4 girls collapsed during the lunch break in school Thursday and died. It is being alleged that they were poisoned by one of their classmates, police said.

The two students - Jyoti Kumar and Payel Pande - were seen writhing in pain and frothing during their lunch break at school. They later died at the state-run M.R. Bangur Hospital.

Police sources said that Payel had apparently told a school teacher before her death that one of their classmates had mixed poison in their lunch box.

Senior police officers visited the school to investigate the matter.
