New Delhi - Delhi Police will file its chargesheet in connection with the gang-rape of a 23-year-old girl in the metropolitan magistrate's court in Saket on Thursday.
The case will then be moved to the fast-track court to hear it on a day-to-day trial basis.
Delhi Police, which had earlier invoked murder charges against the six men allegedly involved in the gang-rape, plans to submit a 1000-page chargesheet in connection with this case.
Chief Justice of India (CJI) Altamas Kabir inaugurated a fast-track court at Saket Court Complex in Delhi last evening. The gang rape and murder of a 23-year old physiotherapy student in Delhi will be the first case to be heard in this court.
Strongly advocating for courts to act as a deterrent in the future to check crimes against women, CJI Kabir yesterday said 'a serious message needs to be sent in dealing with such heinous crimes'.
"There is a need to pay greatest attention to crimes against women, elderly and children," he added.
The girl was gang-raped and brutally assaulted allegedly by six men in a moving bus in south Delhi on December 16 night.
