Seemingly unfazed at being ousted from the Asian Athletics Association, scam-tainted Suresh Kalmadi on Monday said losing the presidential re-election bid to Qatar’s Dahlan Jumaan Al-Hamad has actually given him a chance to work at the “grassroots” level.
“I have no issues today and I congratulate Mr Al-Hamad for being elected as President. I am rather relieved that I will be able to work at the grassroots level in athletics,” Mr. Kalmadi said after losing the vote during the ongoing AAA Congress in Pune.

Geetika Sharma's mother Aruradha Sharma commits suicide,

New Delhi - In a major twist in the Geetika Sharma suicide case, the former airhostess's mother Aruradha Sharma hanged herself at her Ashok Vihar residence in North West Delhi on Friday.

According to television reports, no suicide note has been found yet.

Twenty-three-year-old Geetika, an air hostess with MDLR Airlines, was found dead on August 5 last year at her Ashok Vihar residence. In one of her suicide note, she had alleged former Haryana Minister Gopal Kanda and his colleague and co-accused in the case, Aruna Chaddha , of harassing her.

Geetika's family had earlier alleged harassment by Gopal Kanda, who is still languishing in jail in connection with this case.

However, the reason for her suicide is not known as yet. The police is doing preliminary investigations.

Geetika Sharma committed suicide in August last year in her Ashok Vihar residence alleging harassment by former Haryana minister Gopal Kanda and a senior colleague Aruna Chaddha, who were arrested by Delhi Police later.

The sitting Haryana MLA was arrested on August 18 after he had surrendered before the police, 13 days after Geetika was found dead.

In her August 4 suicide note, 23-year-old Geetika said she was ending her life due to "harassment" by Kanda and Chaddha. Both Kanda and Chaddha have been accused of abetting Geetika's suicide.

However, Kanda has been reiterating before the court that no case of abeting suicide is made out against him and that Geetika was "hypersensitive" and the extreme act on her part was that of a "confused and frustrated individual".
